Shay’s Spotlight ~ Clay Groups on Facebook

Hello clayers! How was your week? Did you make something fun? Sadly I have not even SAT at my clay table this week, it’s been so busy at my house. Really hoping that I’ll have time to play with my clay this coming week. I found these adorable little glass ornaments at Hobby Lobby the other day, and I’m just itching to cover them with clay.

Not sure what I’m going to make with them yet, but they were too cute to pass up, AND I had a coupon. I’m sure whatever they turn out to be, they’ll end up in a blog later on down the road. 🙂

So, back to the topic for today’s blog. I thought I’d let you all know about a wonderful thing I’ve discovered…..Clay groups on facebook! Awesome, right? 🙂 I love clay groups! They are a great place to share ideas, get new ideas, make new friends, post pics of your creations, and see what others have made. Some of the clay groups even do monthly competitions. Usually the competitions are just for fun (and bragging rights, LOL!), but sometimes the groups will send small prizes to the winners of the competitions. These groups are chock full of information and amazing clay creations.

A few of my favorite groups are:

Birdy Heywood Polymer Clay Creations

My Clay Fantasy

Just Polymer Clay Tutorials – For Sale Or Free

To join these groups, all you have to do is send each one a request. Depending on what time of the day it is, it will take anywhere from an hour to a day to get accepted. There is a LOT of talent on these sites. Everyone is so helpful and will answer questions or give kind critiques of your work. If you join any of the groups (and there are a ton of them out there, I only posted a few), please remember to follow any rules they may have, be kind and courteous, and most importantly, have fun.

Happy claying! 🙂
